The events of June 29 will forever be etched in the memories of Americans. The two brothers in Idaho who lost their lives—and the brother who was critically injured—deserve to be at the forefront of our community’s thoughts and prayers.

Brothers John Morrison and Frank Harwood responded to their final alarm after being dispatched to a wildland fire, where they were deliberately ambushed, shot, and killed. Brother Dave Tysdal was shot three times and is currently being treated in the ICU. East Clark Professional Firefighters stands united with IAFF Local 710, Local 2856, and the Professional Firefighters of Idaho during this darkest of times.

We would also like to offer our community the opportunity to support our fallen and injured brothers from the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department and Kootenai County Fire & Rescue. You can make a direct financial contribution through the link below or pre-order a memorial shirt, with 100% of the proceeds going directly to support those affected. Both giving options are linked below.

East Clark Professional Firefighters calls on our community to stand with us in solidarity. We are committed to protecting you and your loved ones, and we ask you to pause with us in reflection. We never know when or how tragedy will strike—it can come in an instant. Yet our members will always answer the alarm. Our community deserves no less. Please keep our fallen brothers—and all first responders—in your thoughts and prayers.

Your firefighters strive to provide the highest level of service to our communities possible given our resources. We do this through constant training, prevention, public education, and emergency response.

The pictures in this post shows one of our crews participating in water rescue training with Vancouver Firefighters Local 452. What you unfortunately do not see in these pictures are members of East Clark Professional Firefighters in the water. Despite our members pushing for a properly funded and trained water rescue program in the east side of Clark County, our firefighters are still not legally able to enter the water to rescue victims.

As the firefighters union our ask is that our members receive the training and resources to provide adequate safety to the public that we serve.

This past week members of L2444 completed our annual rope rescue training preparing for rescues this summer. There was a water element added this year for a more complex scenario. When these types of emergencies occur, they require the majority of on duty staffing CWFD has available as well as personnel from neighboring departments. And usually take several hours to complete before staffing is available to run other calls in the area. Please be safe and enjoy the great outdoors East Clark County has to offer. #camaswa #camaswashougal #fire #clarkcountywa #washougal #washougalwashington ... See MoreSee Less

This past week two members of East County Fire and Rescue's (ECFR) Board of Commissioners and a Washougal City Councilmember attended Fire OPS 101 with three of our members in Boise, Idaho.

We would like to thank Washougal Councilmember David Fritz, ECFR Commissioner Josh Seeds, and ECFR Commissioner Brendan Addis for their dedication to the communities they serve and for being willing to experience first hand, the work that our members are expected to perform on a daily basis.
